Attended Mishemokwa from 1959 to 1965 Whenit was a basketball camp. Awesome place and I have incredibly great memories. The hike to Little Pisgah and Burnt shirt. The canoe trips on Lake Lure and basketball games at all the surrounding camps. The camp fires and vespers on Sunday nights.

I was at Camp in 95 & 96, working with the horseback programme & some water sports. I loved it, & have loads of great memories. Too many people (campers & counsellors) to mention who were lovely, & made the summers. Now I work as a conservation officer, still ride horses, but do a lot of cycling. This is a great site!

I was thrilled to find this website. It brought back so many magical memories of being a counselor the summer of '94 and '95. I remember so many counselors and campers from those sessions. After college, I actually went traveling with Courtney Coleman Johnson and met my now husband in Utah. She and I both were married in Utah and attended each other's weddings. I now live in NY and am a mommy to 4 children! I look forward to hearing from many of you.

I can't believe I found this place!!  I was looking for a place to take the family on vacation and thought about Lake Lure and a visit to the camp.  One google search and here I am.  I was a counselor/CIT Director for 1988.  Ian...I looked through your pictures!  THAT brings back memories.  I am living in Indiana with my wife and 8 year old daughter.  I work at Old National Bank as eMarketing Director and race Ironman Triathlons as a hobby. I occasionally dig out the camp pictures and laugh.  My funniest memory was when Glenn Hopper was tied up in his sleeping back on an overnighter and rolled down hill and landed in a cow patty.  I still tell stories about that one....and the coco puff fight in the hotel room on our night out.  We never went back to that hotel again!!! YIKES

I attended Camp Mishemokwa for two years 1981 and 1982. I remember the overnight camp outs and the Acid Man story. The Big Blob on the lower lake. That all seems like a hundred years ago.
